Lithium Ion Battery Safety Advice

Here at Cybercig we work extremely hard to ensure that our customer’s health and safety is our first priority.

Lithium Ion batteries can now be found in many products from electric toothbrushes, children’s toys, DIY tools, mobile phones, cars, electronic cigarettes and so on. Lithium Ion batteries are a perfectly safe product to use providing that the batteries are manufactured to the correct CE standard and the charging instructions provided with the product are followed.

Safety information and customer awareness in the E-Smoking Industry, in our opinion, is very poor.

We are therefore taking this opportunity to offer safety advice to all our customers.

Products

We have all heard the adage “if it sounds too good to be true it usually is” this applies to products provided by some electronic cigarette vendors. It is not possible to manufacture products of the highest safety and quality standards for a very low price. We ourselves have witnessed and tested some of these low quality products on offer and our advice is to avoid these products at all costs as it may result in far more than you can imagine. Check out the packaging, look for the health and safety warnings, and if it seems too cheap do not buy it.

Some of these products are highly dangerous particularly the USB which often has no built in safety features, they are manufactured with low quality materials and they can catch fire.

CE Markings on the product and product packaging is no guarantee that the product within the packaging is safe. CE Marks are readily available and easily forged by many manufactures.

Try to buy products from a good reliable source or by a trusted recommendation.

Wall Chargers

Wall chargers are manufactured in many different shapes, sizes and voltage outputs. If you see branded wall chargers for sale on market stalls, such as iPhone or Samsung, do not buy them as there is a good chance that they may be forgeries. This type of product again is made from cheap materials and can catch fire. Buy your products from a recommended dealer or by recommendation from a trustworthy source.

The information you need on the wall charger information plate to charge Cybercig batteries is as follows. (note: large batteries over 1300mah will require a totally different charger to 180- 650-900-1100 and 1300 mah batteries.)

Battery General Safety Advice

Electronic cigarette batteries are available in many different sizes and qualities. Only purchase batteries from a reliable and trustworthy source. Many of the batteries look the same but they are not. Some of the batteries are made from very cheap materials and are not equipped with safety features such as thermal cut out and over charge protection. They can be highly dangerous and they do not last, most break after only a week or two.

  1. Never leave the battery on charge overnight.
  2. Try not to leave batteries on charge when the charging cycle is completed, most of the batteries only take an hour or two to charge up from flat to full so try to be around when you charge them just in case of incident. Turn the power off to the charger as soon as you can and as soon as the battery is fully charged.
  3. Always charge your batteries out of the reach of children, use an elevated socket such as one over a kitchen worktop or better still in the garage, ensure that the charging equipment is kept well away from water. If you do not have an elevated socket use an extension to raise it up out of harm’s way and prying little eyes and fingers.
  4. Store your batteries in a cool dry place such as a drawer and always store out of the reach of children.
  5. Never immerse the battery in water.
  6. Only use the battery for the purpose that it is intended for: to provide power to electronic cigarette atomizer tanks.
  7. Always check that you are using the correct battery charger and USB for the battery you have purchased. If in doubt contact us at any time for assistance. sales@cybercig.co.uk
  8. Do not expose the battery to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
  9. If storing the battery for long periods of time over 2 weeks duration, store your battery at half power charge, do not store fully charged or when fully flat as this will have a detrimental effect on the life span of your battery
  10. Try to charge the battery when it needs re- charging: the ideal time is when the battery is fully flat.

How to charge Cybercig Standard Batteries

  1. From the information noted above establish that you have the correct USB and wall charger.
  2. Screw your battery into the USB Charger clockwise until you feel resistance; do not over tighten the battery into the USB as this may split the USB open. If this accidentally occurs do not attempt to repair the USB discard it and purchase a new one.
  3. Screw your battery in to the USB Charger clockwise until you feel resistance; do not over tighten the battery in to the USB as this may split the USB open. If this accidentally occurs do not attempt to repair the USB discard it and purchase a new one.
  4. Plug the wall charger/ USB/ battery combination in to a standard UK 3 pin socket.
  5. Turn on the power supply.
  6. The red light will illuminate on the wall charger, this indicates that the wall charger is functioning.
  7. The LED light on the battery button will flash to indicate that the battery is in charge mode, on some models the LED light may illuminate and stay illuminated throughout the charging process, on other models the LED may flash 3 to 5 times then extinguish.
  8. The USB LED light will illuminate.
  9. If the LED light glows red the battery is charging
  10. If the LED light glows green or yellow the battery is fully charged and should be disconnected from the power supply as soon as possible.
  11. The USB light is the only light that indicates if the battery is charged fully (green or yellow glow) or is charging (red glow)

THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS IS THE C1 MINI ATOM BATTERY.

When charging the Mini Atom C1 Battery the LED light on the USB charger will glow red at all times.

The LED light at the end of the battery will:

  • Illuminate when the battery is charging
  • When LED light at the end of the battery extinguishes the battery is fully charged
